Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh figs, stems removed and quartered
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest, finely grated
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Wash the figs thoroughly and pat them dry. Remove the stems and cut each fig into quarters.
  2. Place the quartered figs, honey, and cinnamon into a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir gently to coat the fruit in honey and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  3. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until the figs have softened and released their juices.
  4. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Continue to simmer for another 3 minutes until the sauce becomes a glossy, thickened glaze that coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly to thicken further.
