Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rim)
  • 1 standard lemon wedge (for rim and garnish)
  • 2 fluid ounces (60 ml) premium vodka
  • 75 fluid ounces (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 75 fluid ounces (22.5 ml) simple syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 5 fluid ounces (15 ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • Cubed ice (approx. 1.5 cups)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the granulated sugar onto a flat saucer. Rub the exterior lip of a chilled martini glass with the lemon wedge. Dip the moistened rim lightly into the sugar, rotating gently until you have an even coating. Set the glass aside to chill.
  2. Measure the required fresh lemon juice. Pour the vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur into the empty cocktail shaker base.
  3. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with solid cubed ice. Seal the shaker lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. This achieves necessary chilling and dilution, indicated by frost forming on the metal shaker.
  4. Using a fine-mesh strainer, double strain the contents into the prepared, sugar-rimmed glass. Garnish with the reserved lemon wedge or a fancy lemon twist peel draped over the rim. Serve immediately.
