Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef (90/10 recommended)
  • 0.5 unit Yellow Onion, finely diced
  • 0.5 unit Green Bell Pepper, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.75 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 box (8 count) Frozen Garlic Texas Toast
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or according to Texas toast package instructions. Place frozen bread slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until partially toasted.
  2. While bread bakes, brown the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until meat is fully cooked. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in the green bell pepper, garlic, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Simmer for 5-8 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the meat.
  4. Remove toast from oven. Evenly distribute the meat mixture onto each slice of toast. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Return to the oven or broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and slightly golden.
