Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup (40g) black or white chia seeds
- 1.25 cups (300ml) unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop (30g) chocolate whey protein powder
- 1 tbsp (6g) unsweetened cacao powder
- 1 tbsp (15ml) maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) vanilla extract
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions:
- Whisk dry ingredients. Combine the chia seeds, protein powder, cacao, and salt in your jar. Note: Mixing dry first prevents the protein from clumping when the liquid hits.
- Add liquid base. Pour in the almond milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
- Agitate vigorously. Stir with a whisk or fork for 2 full minutes until no dry streaks remain.
- Rest briefly. Let the mixture sit on the counter for 5 minutes.
- Re stir thoroughly. Stir again for 1 minute until the seeds begin to suspend. Note: This prevents all seeds from sinking to the bottom.
- Seal and chill. Close the lid tightly and place in the fridge.
- Wait for hydration. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours until the mixture is thick and jiggly.
- Final fluff. Stir once more before serving to redistribute any settled liquid.
- Garnish and serve. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy immediately.
