Ingredients:

  • 120ml (4 oz) freshly squeezed blood orange juice, strained
  • 60ml (2 oz) black cherry or blackberry syrup
  • 0.5 tsp food-grade activated charcoal powder
  • 0.25 tsp edible silver or gold luster dust
  • 480ml (16 oz) high-quality spicy ginger beer, chilled
  • 4 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp black lava salt or black sanding sugar
  • 4 dehydrated orange wheels

Instructions:

  1. Moisten the rim of four highball glasses with a lime wedge. Invert each glass into a plate containing black lava salt or black sanding sugar, rotating slowly to create a thick, crusted border.
  2. In a small pitcher or cocktail shaker, combine the blood orange juice, black cherry syrup, activated charcoal, and edible luster dust. Stir or shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the mixture is cold and the charcoal is fully dissolved.
  3. Fill the prepared glasses with cracked ice. Pour 45ml (1.5 oz) of the prepared black 'Venom' base into each glass.
  4. Top each glass with 120ml (4 oz) of chilled ginger beer and 1 teaspoon of lime juice. Stir gently to initiate the shimmer convection current without dissipating the carbonation. Garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel and optional plastic spiders.
