Ingredients:
- 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 tsp fresh orange zest
- 1 whole cinnamon stick
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions:
- Rinse the 12 oz cranberries. Note: Discard any berries that are soft or shriveled.
- Combine the 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1/2 cup orange juice in a medium saucepan.
- Dissolve the sugar over medium heat until the liquid is clear and bubbling slightly.
- Add the cranberries, 1 tsp orange zest, 1 whole cinnamon stick, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Simmer the mixture until you hear the berries start to pop and shatter.
- Stir occasionally to ensure the sugar doesn't stick to the bottom.
- Cook for about 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened and looks glossy.
- Remove the pot from the heat. Note: The sauce will thicken significantly as it cools.
- Discard the cinnamon stick before serving.
- Cool completely at room temperature before moving to the fridge.
