Ingredients:
- 2 large (approx 1 lb / 450g) Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced into ¼ inch wedges
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
- ¼ cup (50g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp (15ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp (3g) cornstarch
- 1 pinch (0.5g) salt
Instructions:
- Peel the apples (optional) and slice them into uniform ¼ inch wedges. Toss the slices with lemon juice in a bowl to prevent oxidation and balance the sugar.
- Melt the butter in a 12-inch non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to foam. Add the apple slices in a single layer and cook for 3–5 minutes without stirring too often, until the edges look golden.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt over the apples and stir gently to coat.
- Mix the cornstarch with a teaspoon of water in a small bowl to create a slurry. Pour the slurry over the apples and stir for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens into a glossy syrup.
