Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
- 2 stalks celery, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 tsp Cajun seasoning blend (smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, thyme, oregano)
- 4 brioche buns, toasted
Instructions:
- Finely dice 1 small yellow onion, 1 green bell pepper, and 2 stalks celery.
- Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil to your skillet over medium high heat. Cook until the oil shimmers and ripples.
- Toss in the diced vegetables. Sauté 5 minutes until the onions turn translucent and fragrant.
- Add 1 lb ground chicken. Cook 5-7 mins until no pink remains, breaking it up as you go.
- Stir in 3 cloves minced garlic and 3 tsp Cajun seasoning.
- Move the meat to the side and drop in 2 tbsp tomato paste. Cook 1 min until it turns a deep brick red.
- Pour in 8 oz tomato sauce, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar.
- Reduce heat to low. Simmer 5-10 mins until the sauce is thick and velvety.
- While simmering, butter your 4 brioche buns and toast until the edges are golden and crisp.
- Heap the chicken mixture onto the buns and serve immediately.
