Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- 1 tsp dried rubbed sage
- 0.5 tsp dried thyme
- 0.5 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
- 0.25 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp onion powder
- 0.125 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, pre-mix all dry spices (salt, sage, thyme, pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and allspice) to ensure even distribution.
- Gently fold the spice mixture and maple syrup into the chilled ground beef. Avoid over-mixing to maintain a tender texture.
- Optional: Let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Divide the beef into 8 equal portions and form into discs approximately 1/2 inch thick. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty.
- Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until a golden brown crust forms and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
