Ingredients:
- 4 slices (160g) sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter
- 4 oz (113g) full-fat cream cheese
- 1 medium (150g) ripe avocado
- 1 tsp (5ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
- 1/4 tsp (1g) cracked black pepper
Instructions:
- Toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown and firm. If using a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sear each side until a mahogany-colored crust forms.
- In a small bowl, combine the scooped avocado flesh with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mash with a fork until mostly smooth with a few small chunks remaining.
- Apply a generous, even layer of softened cream cheese from edge to edge on both slices of toasted bread to create a moisture barrier.
- Spoon the avocado mash over the cream cheese on one slice and smooth it out. Place the second cream-cheese-covered slice on top, press gently, and slice diagonally.
